Stampeding Through The Roster: #71 OG John McGhin

After talking about one possible option at guard for 2012, we look at another promising offensive line prospect.

#71 OG John McGhin

Redshirt Sophomore, 6'4", 324 lbs.

Stats in 2010: McGhin played as a reserve for the season opener against Stony Brook, but battled a hip injury and was not used the rest of the season.

Current Spot On Depth Chart: John is listed as the backup to Jeremiah Warren at left guard on the post-spring depth chart.

How He Got To USF: McGhin came to USF from Florida High School in Tallahassee. McGhin had offers from Vanderbilt and Marshall before committing to USF early in the recruiting process.

Recruiting Ranks: McGhin was rated as a 3-Star recruit by both ESPN and Scout. Rivals had John pegged as a 2-Star recruit. In the national rankings, ESPN thought McGhin was the 80th ranked OG prospect, while Scout had him as the 143 ranked OT recruit in the Class of 2009.

Projected Playing Time in 2011: While McGhin's playing time will be limited to special teams and blowouts this season with Jeremiah Warren entrenched as the starter. McGhin however will compete with Steven Jacques and Danous Estenor along with incoming freshman Max Lang for a starting job next season.
