USF picked up their 3rd commitment of the week as Plant City ATH LaMarlin Wiggins gave a verbal pledge to commit to Coach Skip Holtz and the Bulls. Chris Nee of Rivals.com ($$ Link) was the first to break the news of his commitment today.
The 6'2 185 lb Wiggins picked USF over offers from a nice array of BCS schools including UCLA, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, Miami, and Louisville.
Scout and 24/7 both list Wiggins as a 3-Star recruit, while Rivals has Wiggins a 4-Star and the 18th best ATH in the country. With Chris Bivins stating earlier that he took the last defensive back position in this class, I would look for Wiggins to start his career at wide receiver.
Wiggins had a solid season for the Raiders last year, catching 40 balls for 649 yards and 5 touchdowns. LaMarlin also returned a kickoff for a touchdown as well last season.
Wiggins has great speed for a player of his size, has excellent hands, and uses his size and speed to create separation against his defender. We have a recruiting video of the sophomore and junior seasons after the jump.
This is another solid pickup for Holtz, especially with getting a local kid like Wiggins, who normally would go out of state instead of coming to Tampa. Wiggins is the 3rd Bay Area commitment with Admiral Farragut ATH Rayshawn Jenkins and North Marion TE Sean Price.
Welcome to USF LaMarlin!
