Stampeding Through The Roster: #44 TE Tyler Guy

I'm sorry, I have to do this.

HI GUY (via voodoo5blog)

OK, let's talk about a player whose opportunity might have arrived with yesterday's unfortunate Jeff Hawkins injury.

#44 TE Tyler Guy

Redshirt Freshman, 6'6", 241 lbs.

Stats In 2010: Guy redshirted in 2010, so no stats.

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Guy isn't currently listed on the depth chart at tight end.

How He Came To USF: Tyler played high school football at Freedom High School, as well as basketball and baseball, where he was a third-team All-State selection in 2009. (Maybe Lelo should ask about him. I'm sure he could have Tyler sac bunting in no time.) He walked onto the team in the fall of 2010 and made the 105-man roster.

Recruiting Rankings: Not rated by either Rivals or Scout.

Projected Playing Time For 2011: Now here's where things might get interesting. Hawkins was slated to be the backup fullback and probably the team's third tight end. At 6'6", Guy is definitely too tall to play fullback. But could he become the third tight end while someone like Ty Turner or a converted lineman takes the backup fullback position? Even if we don't see Guy in goal-line sets, he could see some action in mop-up duty.
