Stampeding Through The Roster: #40 FB Chris Breit

Armando Sanchez wasn't the only linebacker who switched to fullback this spring. Let's meet someone who is finally healthy after spending the last few years rehabilitating a pretty bad injury.

#40 FB Chris Breit

Redshirt Junior, 5'10", 225 lbs.

Stats In 2010: Breit played in three games last year at linebacker and also took a part on special teams. All three of his tackles in 2010 were recorded against Stony Brook in the season opener.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Chris is currently listed as the backup on the post-spring depth chart behind Armando Sanchez.

How He Came To USF: Breit came to USF from nearby Plant High School in Tampa, where he was one of the leaders for the Panthers. Breit was primed for a great senior season at Plant, but was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back before the season began and missed the entire year. Chris was being recruited from FCS schools Georgia Southern and The Citadel before the season.

Recruiting Rankings: With his injury, Breit was not rated by either Scout or Rivals.

Projected Playing Time In 2011: Breit might have finally caught a break in his football career. There is an extreme lack of depth at fullback, with only Sanchez and fellow walk-on Justin Wlicox on the roster right now. Breit will have some competition for snaps with incoming freshman Tye Turner and walk-ons Tyler "THISGUY" Guy and Jake Carlton, but I'd expect Breit to get some playing time this year. At the very least Chris will play on special teams and in a reserve role.
