Stempeding Through The Roster: #16 LB Reshard Cliett

The other entry in today's roster countdown is one of the surprises from spring practice.

#37 #16 LB Reshard Cliett

Redshirt Freshman, 6'2", 210 lbs.

Stats In 2010: Cliett did not record any stats and was redshirted during his first year at USF.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Reshard is listed as a co-starter with Curtis Weatherspoon at the SAM linebacker position on the post-spring depth chart.

How He Came To USF: Cliett came to USF from Thomas County Central HS in Thomasville, GA. Reshard missed all of his junior season to an injury, but had a strong senior year at safety with 97 tackles and four interceptions. Cliett was lightly recruited, holding offers from South Alabama, Georgia Southern, and Eastern Kentucky before USF gave him his first FBS scholarship offer.

Recruiting Rankings: Cliett was rated as a two-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout, with Scout rating Reshard as the 175th best safety prospect in the country.

Projected Playing Time In 2011: Cliett undoubtedly was one of the big surprises for USF during spring practice this year. His switch to linebacker from safety was flawless, and the defensive coaches kept raving about his work ethic at outside linebacker. His position battle with Weatherspoon and Mike Jeune (another converted defensive back) will be one to watch this fall. Regardless of whether he starts or not, Cliett will be in the rotation at linebacker this year, and could become a force on the outside over the next few seasons.
