Welcome back to our weekly look at what is going on this week on Fowler Avenue. While there are still some friendlies going on, we finally have our first official competition this year. Let's get into it.
Football:
Fan Fest: Saturday, August 20 from 4-6 PM at Raymond James Stadium
What? The football players are wearing uniforms at Raymond James. This is always a big event and if you haven't done so already, you can grab season tickets while there. Plus, if you ever wanted Skip Holtz to take a picture with your newborn, this would be the best time to do it.
Volleyball:
Scrimmage: Friday, August 19 at 7:00 PM at Upper Gym, Campus Recreation Center
Toro's favorite team is inviting everyone to their scrimmage Friday in the Rec Center. If you have the opportunity to make it, I would suggest doing so. The ladies have a chance to do some damage in the Big East this season.
Men's Soccer:
Friendly AWAY: Jacksonville on Wednesday, August 17 at 7:00 PM in Jacksonville, FL
Coach Keifer and the Half-Hoops start up their 2011 campaign with a friendly against Jacksonville Wednesday night. This will be our first look with some of our new players like Michigan transfer GK Chris Blais and English F Dom Dwyer.
Women's Soccer:
AWAY: UCF on Friday, August 19 at 7:00 PM in Orlando, FL
Not a bad way to start of the season. UCF made the NCAA Tournament last season and will be another tough out this year. I'm sure some of our students (maybe more than last November) will make the trip up I-4 to make to this one. At least UCF put up some new bleachers on their soccer stadium. I think there might have been 200 or so seats last year for the men's NCAA game.
