Stampeding Through The Roster: #13 QB Bobby Eveld

After taking yesterday off with no one on the roster yesterday and no one really worthy of being named the best to wear #14 (it was either Ronnie Banks or only one season of Terrence Mitchell), we are back with a two-fer today. First up is probably the surprise player from last season.

#13 QB Bobby Eveld

Sophomore, 6'5" 211 lbs.

Stats In 2010: As a true freshman walk-on, Eveld played in six games last season, including starting the regular season finale against UConn. For the season, Bobby went 42-for-75 for 454 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Eveld also ran for a touchdown. Eveld's biggest moment was his 80-yard game-tying touchdown drive in the 4th quarter against the Miami Hurricanes.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Bobby was listed as the backup to B.J. Daniels at quarterback on the post-spring depth chart.

How He Came To USF: Eveld came to USF as a walk-on from Jesuit High School. Eveld had a solid senior year for the Tigers, throwing for 1999 yards and 19 touchdowns. Eveld chose USF over being drafted in the 50th round by the New York Mets.

Recruiting Rankings: Bobby was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals, which is weird for someone who didn't have a single D1 offer. Maybe everyone thought he'd take an offer from an MLB team?

Projected Playing Time In 2011: Eveld is the clear #2 quarterback behind Daniels and will be ready in case something ever happens to B.J. Let's hope we only see Bobby when the game is out of hand.
