Welcome back to the longest roster countdown ever for the 2011 USF football team. Today, we meet a player ready for his first significant action in his USF career.
#12 TE Isaac Virgin
Redshirt Sophomore, 6'4" 251 lbs.
Stats In 2010: Isaac participated in nine games last season, mostly on special teams. Virgin had two catches for 35 yards last season.
Current Position On Depth Chart: Isaac is listed as the backup to Andreas Shields at tight end in the post-spring depth chart.
How He Came To USF: Isaac comes to USF via Westwood High School in Fort Pierce. Virgin played quarterback for the Panthers and had a great senior year for WHS. Isaac threw for 1641 yards and 15 touchdowns and ran for another 317 yards and 7 touchdowns. Isaac chose USF over Purdue, Iowa State, and Liberty.
Recruiting Rankings: Virgin was rated a two-star prospect by both Ra two-star prospect by Rivals and not ranked at his position. Scout also gave Isaac two stars and rated him the 68th best tight end prospect in the Class of 2009.
Projected Playing Time In 2011: Isaac will be more of an H-Back like Kevin Gidrey was last season. Expect to see Virgin a lot on two tight end sets and goal-line situations. Isaac has some of the best hands on the team, so don't be surprised if you see Virgin on some play-action calls.
