Stampeding Through The Roster: #9 WR Evan Landi

Single digits! This is exciting! Only 9 more of these! This is a lot of exclamation points! Let's meet today's player!

#9 WR Evan Landi

Redshirt Junior, 6'3" 221 lbs.

Stats In 2010: Evan completed a move to wide receiver from quarterback last season and became one of B.J. Daniels' favorite targets by the end of the season. Starting all 13 games, Landi was second on the team with 28 catches for 390 yards and two touchdowns.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Evan was listed as the starter at split end on the post-spring depth chart.

How He Came To USF: Landi comes to USF from Coral Springs Charter School in Coral Springs, Florida. Landi played both safety and quarterback for the Panthers, and was named on the Class 2A All-State team at safety. Evan had 60 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense while scoring 11 touchdowns through the air and four touchdowns on the ground. Evan chose USF over offers from South Carolina, Wisconsin, and a junior contract with the Ontario Hockey League. Yes, hockey.

Recruiting Rankings: Evan was rated a two-star recruit, but at different positions. Rivals thought Landi would play safety at USF while Scout had Evan as the 107th best quarterback prospect in the Class of 2008.

Projected Playing Time In 2011: With Landi's size and experience, Coach Holtz wants Evan on the field as much as possible. While Evan will most likely start at wide receiver, there have been talks of moving Landi to more of a hybrid WR/TE role. Either way, expect to see Landi continue to progress as he learns his new position.
