Good morning V5ers! Who's ready for Skip Holtz's opening press conference? You too? We'll be live this afternoon, blogging and chatting away as Holtz meets the media and officially kicks off fall practice. Make sure to come back and talk to us.
But until then... on to the links!
1. Congrats to former USF closer Kevin Quackenbush, who was named as an honorable mention on CollegeBaseballInsider.com's All-American team. Kevin has been tearing it up in the minors, and I wouldn't be surprised if he earns another promotion before the end of the season.
2. Even though the football team reports today, they aren't the first squad to start fall camp. Jim Louk (@USFJimLouk) tweeted that the women's soccer team is the first one on the field for 2011-12 as they get prepared for their first exhibition game next week against FGCU.
3. If you use an Android-powered device, USF has a new app that will keep you updated on all the latest athetics news. Toro picked it up and was pleseantly surprised. We'll have to wait until the season starts before we can give a full review. (note from Voodoo: If there's an iOS version I'll review that one too).
4. Josh Newberg at Bulls247.com has some news on Armwood offensive lineman Kevin McCoy, who has USF in his final four schools. With the lack of scholarships available, McCoy's commitment would probably be the last scholarship the Bulls would use on the offensive line this year.
5. Thankfully no USF team made the worst college football teams in recent history. We did, however, take on and demolish one of these squads (the 2005 Orange, who USF shut out 27-0).
