The other entry in our roster countdown is a running back transfer ready finally get on the field after sitting out his first two years in college.
Redshirt Sophomore, 5'10", 253 233 lbs.
Stats In 2010: Dontae didn't record any stats after being forced to sit out in 2010 due to NCAA transfer rules.
Current Position On Depth Chart: Dontae was not listed on the two-deep at running back on the post-spring depth chart.
How He Came To USF: Aycock transferred to USF from Auburn, where he lasted only one year before being dismissed for a somewhat controversial violation of team rules. (Aycock claimed he had asked for a transfer before being removed from the team, and also said he wasn't aware of any violations or academic issues.) Before going to Auburn, Aycock was a star for Chamberlain High School here in Tampa. Playing quarterback for the Chiefs, Dontae ran for over 1400 yards and 28 touchdowns while also passing for over 1400 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Recruiting Rankings: Rivals listed Aycock as a four-star recruit and the 16th best running back prospect in the Class of 2009. Scout gave Dontae three stars and ranked him as the 45th-best running back recruit in country.
Projected Playing Time In 2011: With Demetris Murray and Darrell Scott ahead of Dontae on the depth chart, Aycock will need to beat out Marcus Shaw and Bradley Battles for the 3rd spot on the depth chart. Offensive coordinator Todd Fitch has dropped a hint or two that Aycock might be given a wildcat/Wild Bull/El Toro Loco/Mad Cow/Whatever package, so that might be Aycock's biggest contribution to the team this year.
