USF Soccer Ends Season, Caps Crappy Weekend for USF

The Bulls' men's soccer team beat Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday on penalty kicks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In the next round, USF hosted another team who they had beaten earlier in the season, the #11 seed Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

For those who watched the game, you know that there is really nothing to recap. The regulation 90 minutes were an absolute snoozer, with USF amassing a total of nine shots and not controlling the ball the way we've grown accustomed to seeing. Neither team could find the net in the first 90 minutes, so for the second straight game, we went into overtime, scoreless.

USF didn't get a shot in the nine minutes of regulation, while Tulsa had two. The second one was a free kick awarded just outside the box after a USF foul. Tulsa's Omar Mata put the ball right past Dallas Jaye for the golden goal, sending the Golden Hurricane to the next round to take on #6 seed UCLA.

USF ended the season failing to score a goal in its last 238 minutes of gameplay, and their last win in regulation was on October 20. Sorry to all the fans who got back the three-hour Skip Holtz troll job in Miami, went to see USF basketball lose to Western Michigan, then walked over to Corbett to catch some soccer to lift their spirits.
