USF vs. George Mason Preview and GameThread (7:00pm)

The Bulls wrap up 2012 with a matchup against the George Mason Patriots.

US PRESSWIRE

The final non-conference home game for the South Florida Bulls tips off tonight at 7 against the George Mason Patriots, a team best known for their 2006 Final Four run but still a legitimate test for this USF team. Let's take a look at tonight's matchup.

Sherrod Wright is an absolute sharpshooter for George Mason. In addition to scoring almost 17 points a game and hitting 56% from the field, he is 19-for-40 from three-point range (47.5%). He doesn't have a big explosion game to bring up his average, either -- Wright is consistently in the 15-20 point range most nights. Only one team has held Wright to single digits, and USF could go a long way towards winning this game if they can be the second.

Another vulnerability is at the free throw line. George Mason is not a strong free-throw shooting team, and they've allowed 74 more attempts than they have for themselves. (The Patriots average 20 fouls committed per game.) On the other hand, they do play good defense -- ranked 50th in defensive efficiency according to KenPom -- and they have a deep rotation that could cause a shorthanded USF team some problems.

Go ahead and talk about the game in this thread. Go Bulls!
