Among the youthful talent we have at defensive tackle, Clavion Nelson will be depended on to give depth to a strong but inexperienced interior defensive line.
#56 DL Clavion Nelson
Redshirt Freshman, 6'3" 269 lbs.
Stats in 2011: Redshirted.
Current Spot on Depth Chart: Second-string defensive tackle behind Luke Sager.
How did he come to USF: Nelson made his way to USF from South Broward HS in Hollywood, FL.
Recruiting Rankings: Rivals had him as a three-star recruit in 2011
Projected Playing Time for 2012: Nelson should get serious playing time spelling Luke Sager and Elkino Watson at defensive tackle. With Sager being the only upperclassman in the rotation at DT, Nelson and Todd Chandler will get their opportunities, although they will also have to fend off 330-pound behemoth freshman James Hamilton as well. With the interior line being our least experienced unit, there are plenty of opportunites for Nelson to get playing time.
