The next player on the countdown is looking to make the most of his last season of college football.
#40 FB Chris Breit
Redshirt Senior, 5'11", 229 lbs.
Stats in 2011: Chris played in nine games and started against West Virginia. His only stat of the year was a 22-yard reception against Louisville.
Current Spot on Depth Chart: Breit is not on the post-spring depth chart, but he did have surgery on his jaw back in January. We're guessing he must have missed spring practice because he would have been on the two-deep for sure.
How Did He Come to USF: Breit played defensive end at Tampa's Plant High School for three seasons, including the Panthers' first state championship team in 2006. He was being recruited by a couple of FCS schools until a stress fracture in his back cut his high school career short in 2007. In spite of the injury, Breit rehabbed and then walked onto the USF team, first as a linebacker, and last season as a fullback.
Recruiting Rankings: Because of his injury, Chris was not rated by Rivals or Scout.
Projected Playing Time for 2012: Chris has played the last two seasons on special teams, and should be back out there this year. He'll also get some playing time when the offense has a fullback in the game, in short yardage or goal-line situations or when USF just wants to pound the ball.
