Stampeding Through The Roster: #29 DB C.J. Garye

This player has potential for the future, but unfortunately there's a lot of experience in front of him on the depth chart right now.
This player has potential for the future, but unfortunately there's a lot of experience in front of him on the depth chart right now.

We'll meet Jalen Spencer along with all the true freshman in one giant post later on. So we'll skip #30 and continue into the 20s. I guess that we need this, though, now we'll meet somebody that we don't yet know. (Oh wait, that says Garye, not Gotye. I'm sorry, everyone.)

#29 DB C.J. Garye
Redshirt Freshman, 6'3", 216 lbs.

Stats In 2011: Garye took his redshirt year and did not collect any stats.

Current Position On Depth Chart: C.J. wasn't listed on the new fall depth chart.

How He Came To USF: Garye played at Tallahassee's Lincoln High School, the same school as B.J. Daniels. He started his last two years there at safety, including a spot on the 2010 Class 4A state championship team. Garye recorded 138 tackles, seven interceptions, and nine pass breakups, while also playing basketball and running track. He chose USF over offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa State, and SCUMBAGS.

Recruiting Rankings: Rivals gave C.J. three stars. Scout also gave him three stars and ranked him #102 at safety in the class of 2011. 247 had Garye listed at two stars.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: Garye has good size for a safety, but he's a redshirt freshman at a position with lots of experience. (The safeties are the only group on the entire team with all upperclassmen on the two-deep.) C.J. likely won't play much this season as he continues to improve and wait his turn.
