George Baker is another in the long line of dreadlocked players at USF. Let's hope his play this year isn't as dreaded as his hair.

#22 CB George Baker
5th Year Senior, 5'11", 180 lbs.

Stats In 2011: Baker had 14 tackles 11 games, including one start. In addition, he earned his degree last Spring.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Baker is currently listed as the co-starter at second cornerback with Kenneth Durden. Along with Durden and JuCo transfer Fidel Montgomery, he is competing for the second corner spot opposite Kayvon Webster.

How He Came To USF: George selected USF over his hometown Miami Hurricanes, and also Auburn and Rutgers. He was an all-Dade County player at Carroll High School. As a senior, he rushed for more than 1600 yards, and also registered 40 tackles.

Recruiting Rankings: Baker was rated three stars by both Rivals and Scout. Scout rated him as the #47 CB, and Rivals rated him #45.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: As a fifth-year senior, the left CB spot should be Baker's to lose, but inconsistency over the last two years has left the spot open to competition. His stats last year didn't show much progression from 2010 or 2009. Even if he doesn't start at the left CB spot, he'd likely get a lot of time at nickel back.

Here's a youtube of Baker talking about the competition at this year's camp.
