Coach Holtz has good things to say about #20 Marcus Shaw down in Vero.

The next player on the stampede might be the difference between a mediocre or an excellent running game for USF this season. Big things are expected from #20, Marcus Shaw.

#20 RB Marcus Shaw
Junior, 5'9", 189 lbs.

Stats In 2011: Shaw saw minimal action at RB behind Darrell Scott and Demetris Murray, only registering 20 carries and two receptions. He did rush for two TDs. He also saw some time at kick-returner, fielding six kickoffs.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Shaw is listed as co-starter at RB with Murray.

How He Came To USF: Marcus came to USF after receiving offers from over a half-dozen other schools, including Syracuse, UCF and FIU. In 2008 he had over 2,000 yards rushing and 35 TDs at De Soto HS in Arcadia, FL.

Recruiting Rankings: Shaw was relatively highly rated coming out of HS by Rivals, as their #17 RB in 2009. Scout listed him as the #35 RB, and both agencies had him rated him as a three-star player.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: Shaw is the biggest beneficiary of Scott going pro. After not seeing much action as a sophomore, he's listed as co-starter with Murray. Shaw will likely be used a change of pace behind the beefier Murray, and Coach Holtz seems pleased with his effort so far down in Vero.
