We'll cover #41 Tabarie Sullivan with all the newcomers later, so let's continue with one of the two #40s on the team, and maybe its most interesting story (non-sumo wrestler division, anyway).
#40 LB Kalin Hall
Senior, 6'2" 220 lbs.
Stats in 2011: After making the fall roster, Hall had a redshirt year still available and took it.
Current Spot on Depth Chart: Not listed.
How Did He Come to USF? From BMX and motocross racing. Really. Kalin didn't play football in high school -- instead, he was a renowned BMX bicycle racer. (He was the #1 racer in the world in 2001, and second in both 2002 and 2004.) After switching to motocross for a time and attending the State College of Florida and FAU, he was working at a local Smoothie King in the fall of 2010 when an IMG Academy staffer recognized him and asked if he wanted to try football. This proved to be astute: Hall was one of the few walk-ons who made the fall roster, and is now returning for his second (and final) season.
Recruiting Rankings: None, since the recruitniks don't check Smoothie King or BMX races for football prospects.
Projected Playing Time for 2012: Probably not very much, but with a story like Kalin's, maybe the journey is as good as the reward.
