SMU vs. USF. What If They Gave A Football Game And Nobody Came?

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Paraphrasing a USF staffer from last week's game: If a USF player scores a touchdown, but no one is there to see it, does it really count?

I can't think of a USF game I've been less excited to attend that didn't involve Skip Holtz ever. Maybe the Pitt game in '04 where it seemed merely dozens of my fellow USF fans showed up to watch a terrible team complete the end of the non-BCS era at Ray Jay. And now as the BCS era ends today, we're right back to the same plane of ennui.

Today ends one of the great opportunities in college sports history.

I will never, ever forgive those that brought us to this place.

Who: SMU (4-5, 3-2 AAC) vs. USF (2-7, 2-3 AAC)

What: The end of an era, most likely witnessed by less than 15,000 fans again. It was never, ever supposed to be like this.

Where: Raymond James Stadium, 7pm

When: 7pm

Why: Because the USF seniors deserved better than this. Show them you appreciate them.

We're heading over there now, listening to a lot of Morrissey and Tori Amos to get ready. Stay healthy, Bulls: we need you six days from now.
