USF Women's Basketball vs # 14 Oklahoma State Preview

The Bulls are on the road today to take on the #14 Oklahoma State Cowgirls in women's basketball action. Tip off is set for 4:30 PM in Stillwater.

The Bulls (5-3) will hope to do better than what they have been doing recently, with one win and two losses against teams they hoped to do better against. If they want to beat Oklahoma State, then quite simply they have "got to play a lot better," according USF coach Jose Fernandez. The Bulls are led in scoring by sophomore guardCourtney Williams, who is averaging 15.6 points a game. Also in double digits is junior guard Tamara Taylor (11.9) and sophomore forward Alisia Jenkins (10.3).

The Cowgirls (7-0) will hope to extend their hot start to the season. They have yet to be seriously challenged so far, beating their opponents by an average of 38 points. Sophomore guard Brittney Martin leads the Cowgirls in scoring averaging 17.3 points a game. They have three other players averaging double digits- junior forward Liz Donohoe (13.7), senior guard Tiffany Bias (12.4), and junior center LaShawn Jones (10.6).

Three-point shooting might prove to be a major factor in this one. The Bulls started out their previous game shooting 4-4 from three-point land, then going 1 for their next 23. Donohoe is a lock from three for the Cowgirls, shooting 52% on the season. She is also coming off a season high 27 point (7-12 from three) performance against North Texas. The Bulls don't have anyone shooting over 30% to match her, except for sophomore guard Micah Kroll who is 2-4. So shutting Donohoe down should be a priority for USF.

It should be a good one in Stillwater. Hopefully our girls can fair better than our guys did against OK State.
