Congrats to head coach Chris Malloy and the Bulls on winning the 2013 Big East Golf Championships at Reunion in Orlando. The Bulls were led by FRESHMAN Chase Koepka, who shot -7 (209) and finished second overall, including -3 today. And if it's not an NCAA violation, this also qualifies Chase for a spot in our scramble foursome at the volleyball team golf tournament fundraiser next year.

The Bulls pulled away late, running up a one-shot lead to as much as seven before the final hole. Welshman junior Richard James was +2 for the event (recovering from a disaster 78 to open by going 72 & 68 in the second and third round), as was sophomore Trey Valentine. Senior Devin Hernandez posted +4, and freshman Jeffrey Meltzer rounded out the team with a +9.

We're still researching this, but we think this is USF's first conference title in the sport since 1989 in the Sun Belt. USF now has the gorgeous Chowdhari Golf Center for both the men's and women's teams to help with recruiting and skill development, and the results of that generous $1.4 million gift began to show up today.

We'll let you know which of the six regionals USF competes in, but as Greg Auman noted on Twitter, Malloy would probably want to head to Tallahassee as the former assistant coach at FSU. All home course knowledge will be gladly accepted by the Bulls.
