USF was picked to finish fifth in the American preseason media poll at AAC media day. Ahead of USF are the two soon-to-be departed AAC members, Louisville (1st) and Rutgers (3rd), along with Cincinnati (2nd) and, gulp, C. Florida (4th). The Knights placed highest of the former C-USA newcomers, which makes sense since they were C-USA runners-up last season, to Tulsa. Tulsa will be in the AAC next season.
Last season, USF was picked to finish second, and we all know how that turned out. Maybe the media voters will be wrong in the other direction this season.
Here's the entire list, including first-place votes in parentheses:
1. Louisville (28)
2. Cincinnati (2)
3. Rutgers
4. C. Florida
5. USF
6. Houston
7. UConn
8. SMU
9. Temple
10. Memphis
