USF Gets Schooled By Louisville 86-47

I thought the Globetrotters weren't playing the Washington Generals in the Sun Dome until March 7th

The Bulls were firing on all cylinders tonight in front of a season high (home, away, or neutral) of 6,417 fans (on the other hand this is the lowest attended Louisville game all season), posting an impressive 39 point loss. Actually I don't think just labeling it as a "loss" is justice enough- it was an absolute slaughter. The only remotely good thing to take away from this game is that USF out-rebounded the Cards 31-30, but other than that the Bulls got absolutely demolished on all fronts.

USF (10-9, 1-5 AAC) now moves to 13-111 all-time against ranked opponents, and 5-42 in the Stan Heath era. The Bulls finished with an unbelievable total of 23 turnovers, only made 16 shots, and couldn't seem to inbound the ball without error all game. Freshman forward Chris Perry was the lone Bull to reach double digits- and just barely- with 10 points. Senior forward Victor Rudd had his second lowest point total of the year by only getting six from 3-8 shooting.

Louisville (17-3, 6-1 AAC) seemed confused that they were practicing in front of so many people, but nonetheless beat their season average in points per game (83.1, which is #1 in the country) with 87. The Cards had five different players get into double digits in scoring, with junior guard Wayne Blackshear taking the prize with 16 off the bench. Senior guard Russ Smith only put up 12 points (averages a team high of 18.4) after coming off a 23 point performance against UConn on Saturday.

"This will certainly go down as a game I want to forget as soon as possible," said USF Head Coach Stan Heath. "We did a lot of things not very good."

For all you glass half-full silver lining people: each game against Louisville since last year USF has scored slightly more points- 38 in first game last year, 41 in second, and now 47 in the first one this year... but the average losing margin is 28 points .

Next up for the Bulls is the second Memphis game. Tip off is set for 2 PM on Sunday at FedEx Forum and will be broadcasted on the CBS Sports Network. Here's to hoping it's better than last time.
