Flowers Named American Offensive Player of the Week; Sanchez Named To Honor Roll

Another 100-yard rushing game, a spot in the SportsCenter Top 10, and now this. What a week for Flowers.

The American Athletic Conference announced Monday that QB Quinton Flowers was named its Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in USF’s 42-27 win over UConn Saturday night.

Flowers finished with 157 yards rushing, 213 yards passing, two passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns. He also popped off one of the best runs in USF history on a 54-yard scramble and score in the first quarter.

Here’s the video if you somehow missed it:

It was Flowers’ fifth career 100-yard rushing game and second in as many weeks. He also threw an amazing block late in the game to help RB Marlon Mack score his 26th rushing touchdown and break the school record of 25 held by former QB B.J. Daniels.

Linebacker Auggie Sanchez was named to the American’s weekly honor roll for his 11-tackle, three-sack performance. The three sacks were a career high for the redshirt junior, and the tackles were the most since he had 13 against Northern Illinois and Syracuse. Sanchez leads the team with 65 tackles, eight for loss, and six sacks.
