#8 WR Tyre McCants

That's Pronounced... TIE-ree. Emphasis on the first syllable.
2015 Stats: McCants appeared in all 13 games as a redshirt freshman. He didn't make any starts, but he was a semi-regular in the wide receiver rotation and caught seven passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 56-yard catch and run against Syracuse that set up USF's first score, and he caught a 34-yard TD pass from D'Ernest Johnson in the Miami Beach Bowl. His other touchdown, which he was not given credit for at the time, was a two-yard catch from Steven Bench to cap off the Bulls' 65-27 win over Cincinnati.
Position on Depth Chart: Tyre was listed behind Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the X receiver (usually lined up on the left side of the field) on the post-spring depth chart.
How He Came To USF: McCants played at Niceville High School, on the other side of Choctawhatchee Bay from Destin in the Florida Panhandle. He was a versatile runner, receiver, and kick returner who totaled over 3,200 yards and 30 touchdowns for the Eagles, and helped steer them to the Class 7A state championship game in his senior year. He also received all-state second team honors in 2013. McCants had a number of offers, but turned them down and committed to USF in January 2014. He stayed on through signing day, even after Georgia and Florida State each made last-minute offers.

Recruiting Rankings: Tyre was a three-star prospect on all four recruiting sites (247, Rivals, Scout, ESPN).
Projected Playing Time: AJ Legree's knee injury has opened up a spot on the outside for the other receivers in USF's deep and talented group. Ryeshene Bronson is listed as Legree's backup at the Z receiver spot, but McCants may have a chance to move into that spot as well. Even if he doesn't become a starter, he will get his turns again as USF rotates receivers in and out of the game.
