Thanks to a new NCAA scheduling rule, USF Football will move their game against San Jose State to August 26, 2017.
The Bulls had originally scheduled the game for Friday, September 8 at the Spartans campus, their first game in California since facing San Diego State in 1999. But with a new rule taking effect next season allowing teams that play 13 regular-season games to start competing a week earlier, both schools agreed to the change. SJSU will play 13 games due to their Mountain West conference game at Hawaii.
It’s a win for the Bulls, who will now come home to face Stony Brook for during Week 1 on September 2, then get a bye week before hosting Illinois on September 16. It will also give USF a much bigger TV platform due to the extremely limited schedule during “Week 0.” This year’s Week 0 saw Cal face Hawaii in Australia as the only FBS game on the schedule.
