We’re excited around here, and for good reason. USF has finally decided to field a men’s basketball team this season! With the program being brand new, there are a lot of new players for us all to learn about. Between now and the season opener on Friday, we’ll introduce everyone to you, in numerical order.
#11 G David Collins, Freshman, 6’3”, 200 lbs.
How He Came To USF: Collins comes to USF from First Love Christian Academy in Pennsylvania, where he was ranked as the 46th guard prospect in the country.
High School: Collins averaged 18 points per game for his 24-win high school team in 2016 and chose to attend USF over 11 other offers back in April.
As evident in the Bulls exhibition game against Flagler, Collins is not afraid to take deep shots from behind the arc, even though he missed all four of his three-point attempts in a total of 21 minutes. Time will tell on just how big a role this talented freshman will play on the brand new 2017 USF squad.
P.S. We are all really struggling with the idea of a guard named Collins wearing #11. Of course, USF didn’t play men’s basketball before this year so it must all be in our heads.
