We’re excited around here, and for good reason. USF has finally decided to field a men’s basketball team this season! With the program being brand new, there are a lot of new players for us all to learn about. Between now and the season opener on Friday, we’ll introduce everyone to you, in numerical order.
#13 F/G Justin Brown, Freshman, 6’6”, 210 lbs.
How He Came to USF: Brown was born in Philadelphia, but he moved around as a kid with stops in Atlanta and Nashville before settling down in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia, a school that has produced multiple NBA players like David West, Jordan Crawford, and Marreese Speights.
Brown averaged 19 points and seven rebounds per game his senior year. He was named to the All-State first team, and was a team captain and the team MVP.
If there’s one thing every newcomer has usually done, it’s winning a lot and playing big games in their previous stops. This will be important when building a culture from the ground up for the upstart USF program.
Brown played 20 minutes in the exhibition game versus Flagler, coming off the bench to score eight points and grab eight boards.
