We’re excited around here, and for good reason. USF has finally decided to field a men’s basketball team this season! With the program being brand new, there are a lot of new players for us all to learn about. Between now and the season opener on Friday, we’ll introduce everyone to you, in numerical order.
#14 G Henry Beard, Sophomore, 6’0”, 177 lbs.
How He Came To USF: Beard is a local guy from nearby Seminole, where he attended Seminole High School. He played all four years for the Warhawks, and even though he wasn’t a full-time varsity player until his junior year, he appeared in the state playoffs three times. Beard actually had an interesting story written about him back in February on how he became known as “The General” having a cool friendship with women’s star Courtney Williams.
2016-2017: It says here that Beard appeared in six games, totaling one assist, one rebound and one steal. But USF didn’t have a men’s basketball team yet. Maybe this was a club team, or he was at San Francisco.
Beard played just three minutes in the Bulls exhibition, sinking one three-pointer and tallying a steal. We should get a much better look at Beard at points this season.
