Better Know A USF Basketball Player: #15 F Yito Alvarado

Alvarado is another option for Brian Gregory to call on in the new USF frontcourt.

We’re excited around here, and for good reason. USF has finally decided to field a men’s basketball team this season! With the program being brand new, there are a lot of new players for us all to learn about. Between now and the season opener on Friday, we’ll introduce everyone to you, in numerical order.

#15 F Yito Alvarado, Redshirt Sophomore, 6’7”, 206 lbs.

How He Came To USF: Yito, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, moved to the United States before entering high school. He’s an engineering major in his second year at USF and didn’t play collegiately his first year. But USF didn’t even have a real men’s basketball program then, so it’s cool.

2016-17: USF didn’t have a team yet. It says he saw action in four games and scored three points. Maybe that was an adult city league? Or maybe he played for the Tampa Bulls this summer and we didn’t notice.

According to GoUSFBulls.com, these are Yito’s “Career Stats At USF.” Looks accurate, as this is USF’s first-ever basketball team.
