Before we get too far down the road and forget, congratulations to Lghtngfan34 for winning The Daily Stampede’s NCAA Tournament Bracket Challenge. Her prize for winning is... well, this post.
Lghtngfan finished with a total of 123 points. She correctly picked 40 out of 63 games, but her correct picks of Gonzaga in the Final Four and UNC winning the championship banked her 56 valuable points in the 1-2-4-8-16-32 scoring format. Cameron was second with 111 points. Papo Lucas finished third with 106.
Here are the complete standings. Shoutout to Nate Da Gr8, who actually picked more winners than anyone else (41 of 63), but only finished with 66 points. His winners were all early in the tournament, and he only got three of the final eight correct.
Unfortunately we couldn’t gin up any drama or excitement on Monday night. The top four finishers had all picked North Carolina, and no one close enough to win had picked Gonzaga to win the title (I haven’t checked, but it’s very possible no one picked the Zags at all). Lghtngfan34 was free to watch the title game with her win secure.
And now, as is tradition, we conclude the tournament with One Shining Moment.
P.S. All of you beat me soundly, because I did not fill out a bracket. Congratulations!
