#4 DE Jimmy Bayes - Redshirt Junior, 6’3”, 228 lbs.
2016 Stats: Bayes spent another season deep in Willie Taggart’s doghouse. He only played in one game, against Northern Illinois, and did not record any statistics. A highly touted prospect, Bayes has recorded zero stats in three years on campus and is starting to look like one of the biggest washout stories in USF football history.
2015 Stats: Bayes played in five games. He saw a few snaps at linebacker and played on special teams, but didn’t record any statistics.
2014 Stats: Redshirt season.
How He Came To USF: Bayes played at Immokalee High School. He was a Class 5A all-state third team selection in his senior year, when he recorded 78 tackles, 8.5 TFL, six forced fumbles, a sack, and a blocked field goal for the Indians as an outside linebacker. Jimmy committed to USF’s 2014 recruiting class over a year early, in January 2013. He was one of the rare early commits who stuck all the way through to signing day, even after offers came in from Louisville, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Missouri, and others.
Recruiting Rankings: Jimmy was one of the big prizes of USF’s 2014 recruiting class (or so we thought). ESPN and Rivals gave him four stars, while 247 and Scout gave him three.
