USF men’s basketball F Tulio Da Silva is no longer on the basketball team, The Daily Stampede has learned.
We heard rumblings about this development yesterday afternoon and this tweet from our pal Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times helped raise our suspicions even further.
I'm hearing @USFMBB redshirt sophomore F Tulio Da Silva won't play tonight vs. #UCF. I expect an official update from school regarding his future later this afternoon. Da Silva averaging 8.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg.

USF official release:
“I met with Tulio and his family this week to discuss his future and we decided it is best if our program and he move forward separately,” Gregory said. “We thank Tulio for his efforts at USF and wish him the best of luck moving forward. I feel good about the young men in our program and those excited to join it, their commitment to improve every day and the foundation we are building for the success of USF basketball.”
The redshirt sophomore from Brazil averaged 8.0 ppg and 5.6 rpg for the Bulls this year. His playing time under first-year head coach Brian Gregory has been sporadic all season. He played just ten minutes in the blowout loss to ECU on Wednesday and hasn’t played more than 17 minutes in a game since New Year’s Eve.
With his departure, only Isaiah Manderson is the only scholarship Bull that played in a game last season and this season for USF.
