USF Baseball LHP Shane McClanahan on D1Baseball.com Third-Team Preseason All-American List

This is the second preseason list the lefty has made in two weeks.

USF baseball redshirt sophomore LHP Shane McClanahan was named to the D1baseball.com preseason third-team All-American list on Tuesday.

The lefty from Cape Coral was named to the preseason second-team All-American list from Perfect Game two weeks ago.

McClanahan has continued his torrid rise up MLB draft boards ahead of his much-anticipated, and likely final season of college baseball. Scouts have told TDS that his fastball-slider-changeup combination is one of the best they’ve seen as a scout.

It all comes back to control for McClanahan. He was erratic at times in his debut season after missing all of 2016 due to Tommy John surgery. As we said before, control is one of the last things to come back to a pitcher after TJ.

Even with his bouts of wildness, he still managed an impressive 12.32 strikeouts-per-nine innings last year, good for eighth in the nation.

The Bulls open the 2018 season February 16 versus #7 University of North Carolina.
