Ford, a true freshman, rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries. Averaging 23.4 yards per carry, Ford also broke off a 78-yarder during the Bulls’ 17-point third quarter, USF’s longest non-scoring run ever.
Roberts, a redshirt freshman, registered 10 tackles and a big 61-yard interception return in the third quarter to help set up Ford’s second touchdown run on the next play to make it 31-14. Roberts now has interceptions in back-to-back home games.
Undefeated USF will travel to Houston on Saturday for a conference clash with the one-loss Cougars. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN2
