Game Thread: #22/21 USF Women’s Basketball (0-0) at Ohio State (0-0)

Seniors Kitija Laksa and Laura Ferreira take aim at their fourth (and fifth) consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

USF women’s basketball opens the season at Ohio State in just minutes as they begin their quest for a seventh straight 20-win season and fifth straight NCAA Tournament under head coach Jose Fernandez.

The Bulls return senior sharpshooter Kitija Laksa, who set two NCAA records last season after nailing 11-straight three’s versus Southern and then she also set the free throw record for an entire season. She’s fresh off a stint on the Latvian national team that went to the FIBA Women’s World Cup for the first time ever.

Laksa is joined by redshirt senior Laura Ferreira as the only other senior this season. Ferreira was named to the preseason AAC second-team all-conference. She averaged 10 PPG and 6.8 RPG for USF last season.

Forwards Alyssa Rader and Tamara Henshaw are back as well for the Bulls.

Freshmen Sydni Harvey and Elisa Pinzan will team up to try to replace Laia Flores at point guard.

Come join the conversation! Go Bulls.
