#PortalWatch: Former Four-Star QB Jarren Williams Announces Transfer to USF Football

One of the top pro-style QBs who originally committed to Miami is coming to USF.

In one of the bigger surprises on Early Signing Day, former four-star QB, Miami Hurricane, and current JUCO QB Jarren Williams announced his intentions to transfer to USF.

Hailing originally from Lawrenceville, GA, Williams threw for over 3,000 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just four interceptions in his senior year. He added another 800 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground and was named to the 2017 Elite 11 roster. The Elite 11 roster hand selects some of the top QB prospects in the country, the year Williams was participating was the same year Ohio State QB Justin Fields and Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence also competed.

At Miami, Williams saw a little bit of playing time in 2018, but saw more significant time in 2019 for the Hurricanes. He completed 169 of 276 passes for 2,100 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. through 12 games. In January, Williams announced he would transfer, and over the summer, he announced it would be to JUCO, which ended up being Garden City Community College.

Williams showed flashes of brilliance at Miami executing RPO and slants perfectly, but wasn’t without fault, and at times holding onto the ball too long, He announced his transfer after Miami was shutout in their bowl game last year. If he is immediately eligible, he should have three years remaining to compete.
