R H E
Rutgers (12-18, 4-5) 3 7 2
USF (15-16, 5-4) 7 14 0

WP: Reed (2-2)   LP: Roe (3-5)   SV: Quackenbush (6)

In the series finale yesterday, USF gave Junior LHP Matt Reed a rare 4 run cushion after the first inning, and USF cruised to a series-clinching 7-3 victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Sunday at the New Red McEwen Field. Reed gave USF a solid 6 innings of work, giving up 2 runs and 6 hits while striking out 1 Scarlet Knight.

Jonathan Koscso one again did a fantastic job leading off for the Bulls, going 3-3 from the plate, drawing a walk, and knocking in an RBI. Every starter except Andrew Longley collected a hit, and both Todd Brazeal and Chad Taylor each knocked in 2 RBI. Senior OF Junior Carlin extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a 2-5 day at the plate.

Even though this game was out of had early, USF still left 10 men on base, which has to be addressed before the Bulls take on UConn, Louisville, and Pitt later in the season.

At 5-4 so far in Big East play, the Bulls are tied for 5th in the league with Big East and have opportunities to move up against 3 teams ahead of the Bulls in the standings.

USF is on the road all week this season, heading to DeLand on Tuesday before heading up to South Orange for a weekend series against Seton Hall.
