Only 47 numbers and 50-some players left to go! Today we meet someone who heads into fall camp with a real shot at a starting position after sitting out last season.
#47 P Chris Veron
Redshirt Freshman, 6'3", 214 lbs.
Stats in 2010: Veron spent the 2010 season on the bench as he used his redshirt season.
Current Spot on Depth Chart: Chris is currently listed as the starter at punter on the post-spring depth chart.
How He Got To USF: Veron came to USF from Forrest High School in Ocala. Veron was an All-State selection at punter his senior year when he averaged 42 yards per punt. He committed to USF in June 2009 after the Bulls gave him his first scholarship offer.
Recruiting Rankings: Veron was listed as a two-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout.
Projected Playing Time In 2011: Chris and Justin Brockhaus-Kann, who tailed off in the middle of last season, will battle it out in Vero Beach to find out who will start in the season opener against Notre Dame. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes all the way up until game week before a winner is determined.
