Stampeding Through The Roster: #22 DB George Baker

According to the White Pages, there are 1,401 people named George Baker in the United States. Today we'll meet .07% of them.

#22 DB George Baker

Redshirt Junior, 5'11" 180 lbs.

Stats In 2010: Played in 12 games last season. Had 12 tackles, an interception against Stony Brook, and one other pass broken up.

Current Position On Depth Chart: He is co-second string left cornerback, with Ricardo Dixon and behind Kayvon Webster.

How He Came To USF: From Archbishop Carroll High School in Miami, where he had two 1000-yard seasons as a running back. Baker chose USF over Auburn, Rutgers, Kansas State, and UCF.

Recruiting Rankings: Scout and Rivals both gave him three stars. ESPN rated him the 51st best prospect at the mysterious "athlete" position, while Rivals had Baker as the 45th best athlete in the country. Scout properly rated Baker as a CB, and labeled George as the 47th best corner in the Class of 2008.

Projected Playing Time In 2011: Kayvon Webster seems pretty well entrenched as the starter, so Baker will probably continue to spot action to give Webster a break, and will try to fight off Dixon, Ernie Tabuteau, and Kenneth Durden for the nickel back spot.
