Coach Denise Schilte-Brown and the Women's Soccer fell to #24 UCF 5-1 at the UCF Soccer Stadium in the season opener for both teams.
The game was delayed for almost an hour due to a lightning storm, and the Bulls did not seem ready once the game kicked-off. Tishia Jewell put the Knights ahead within two minutes with a goal just outside the 18-yard box, and the Knights kept the pressure on the rest of the night.
Off a set play In the 13th minute, Molly Stack was caught giving a forearm to the back of Marissa Diggs in the box and UCF was awarded a penalty. Katie Jackson buried it in the right corner past Nicole McClure to put UCF up 2-0. Jewell picked up her 2nd goal on the night when she chipped McClure in the 19th minute to make it 3-0 which is how the half finished.
UCF added a 4th in the 47th as Bianca Joswiak scored off a set piece from inside the 6-yard box.
USF got on the board in the 50th minute as Chelsea Klotz collected a cross from Demi Stokes and put it past Aline Reis to make it 4-1. Joswiak collected a brace in the 80th off a corner kick to finish the scoring on the night.
Not much analysis in this one. The Bulls looked a step slow, and UCF took clear advantage. Hopefully the team will be ready next Friday against Indiana at 7 PM for the Lady Half-Hoops' home opener.
