Stampeding Through The Roster: #11 QB Matt Floyd

11 days to go. We hope you guys are figuring out plans and what to do when making the trip up next week. Today we meet a freshman who will learn the system while staring at a redshirt.

#11 QB Matt Floyd

Freshman, 6'1" 201 lbs.

Stats In 2010: Matt was not on the team and thus did not collect any stats.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Floyd was not listed on the two-deep at quarterback on the post-spring depth chart.

How He Came To USF: Matt came to USF from Milton High School in Milton, FL, which is about 30 minutes outside of Pensacola. Floyd was a 3 year starter for the Panthers, and was one of the best in the panhandle his senior year. Floyd threw for 2,277 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing around 55% of his passes. Matt chose USF over offers from Louisville, Southern Miss, Iowa State, and UCF among others.

Recruiting Rankings: Floyd was rated as a 2-star recruit by Scout and a 3-star recruit by Rivals. Scout had Matt as the 90th best quarterback in the Class of 2011.

Projected Playing Time In 2011: Matt enrolled early in January and had a pretty impressive spring for a player just out of high school. Some thought Floyd might pass Bobby Eveld if he had a solid fall camp, but that hasn't been the case. Unless something crazy happens, expect Matt to use his redshirt this season while learning the offense.
