I'm running out of things to say in the intro. Let's just get to today's player.
#8 S Jon LeJiste
Redshirt Junior, 6'0" 199 lbs.
Stats In 2010: Starting all 13 games last year as strong safety, LeJiste had a solid year last season, totaling 43 tackles, with 7.5 TFL, a team high four sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
Current Position On Depth Chart: Jon is listed as the starter at strong safety on the post-spring depth chart.
How He Came To USF: LeJiste comes to USF from Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, which is about 15 miles north of Boca Raton. If there were any stats for Jon's senior year with the Eagles I'd post them, but they are nowhere to be found. Jon chose USF over Wisconsin, West Virginia, Nebraska, and Virginia among others.
Recruiting Rankings: Jon was listed as a three-star recruit at safety by Rivals while Scout listed LeJiste as a two-Star cornerback recruit and the 111th best cornerback recruit in the Class of 2008.
Projected Playing Time In 2011: LeJiste will be one of the leaders of the deepest positions on the roster. Jon is a human missile who's fantastic against the run (I think everyone remembers him blowing up FSU's Tavares Pressley and forcing a fumble), but with the new offenses at WVU and Pitt, we will need to see Jon's ability to defend the pass this season.
