USF Basketball Mixology: Game 27, Pittsburgh (Round 2)

Let's be honest about Pittsburgh: it's not a city you'd associate with fancy cocktails. Great sandwiches with french fries in them, yes. Sports fans, definitely. And of course, a famous local beer. Cocktails, not so much.

So for today's installment of mixology, we figured we couldn't go wrong with something off the menu at Primanti Bros., the city's famous sandwich shop.

And since we haven't done the martini yet, today's theme beverage will be Primanti Bros.' Pittsburgh version of the classic cocktail. Their menu says, "This twisted tini with Absolut Mandarin, cranberry and fresh lime juice is so cool it has to be contained in STEEL." Which I guess means it comes in a steel martini glass. Apparently you can get those in PIttsburgh.

They don't give you the recipe, of course. But we will approximate one based on a similar concoction, the Bronx Martini, from drinksmixer.com:

--------------------

Steel-Tini

1 1/2 oz Absolut Mandrin vodka
1 splash sweet vermouth
1 splash dry vermouth
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
4 oz cranberry juice

Mix contents in a martini shaker with ice and serve in a chilled martini glass.
