Jerome Pathon Hired As USF WR Coach, Offensive Staff Shaken Up

After weeks of searching, Skip Holtz announced that former NFL WR Jerome Pathon has been hired to as USF's new wide receivers coach. Pathon spent the last three years at the University of San Diego coaching the wide receivers and will replace Phil McGeoghan, who left for the Miami Dolphins earlier this month.

Pathon brings a ton of professional experience to the Bulls, playing eight seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2005. Pathon had a productive career with the Saints, Colts, and Falcons, pulling in 260 receptions for 3350 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Before his coaching stint at San Diego, Pathon worked as an assistant to the wide receivers at Washington before working two internships with the Colts and the BC Lions of the CFL.

Pathon sounds a lot like the McGeoghan hire a few years ago, and that gets me excited about what he can do here. He'll have to jump right into recruiting, but hopefully he can produce like McGeoghan did over the last few seasons.

In addition to Pathon, there was a shakeup with most of the remaining offensive staff. Larry Scott is moving from coaching the tight ends to running backs, while OC Todd Fitch will move from running backs to coaching the quarterbacks. Peter Vaas will take over coaching the tight ends.
