O CANADY! USF Picks Up Commitment From PG Major Canady

USF picked up its 3rd commitment for the Class of 2013 as guard Major Canady gave a verbal pledge to Stan Heath and the Bulls today. The 6-foot-3 point guard from Kiski School just outside of Pittsburgh visited USF this week and announced his decision via twitter.

While only a 2-star recruit according to ESPN, Canady has a pretty big offer sheet that included Stanford, Drexel, Virginia Tech, Pitt, and UMass.

According to Greg Auman, Canady started to hear from USF in March, and enjoyed how the staff interacted with the family. Wanting to spend time in Florida also was a factor in this interview with NBE Basketball Report from back in May.

I found some statistics for Canady, but to be honest, I don't know how accurate they are but let's throw them out there anyways. In his junior season with the Cougars, Major averaged a quadruple double. Really. I'm not joking. He averaged 12.3 PTS/15.3 AST/12.3 REB/10.5 STL a game last year. Its on the internet and everything, so it has to be true.

Canady looks to be the heir apparent to Anthony Collins when he arrives in 2013. Major will spend the first two years as AC's understudy before taking over for the 2015 season. His size at the point will give Coach Heath the opporunity to play a smaller guard like fellow commit Drew Davis without giving to much on defense.

Canady joins Georgia teammates Drew Davis and forward John Egbunu in this years class.
