OK, this is starting to get kind of crazy. Having already bagged Derrick Calloway last week and Lamar Robbins on Sunday, Willie Taggart and his staff got a verbal commitment from another blue-chip defender on Monday night when Deadrin Senat committed to USF.
Senat is a 6'1", 311-pound defensive tackle out of Immokalee High School who has had a long and tumultuous recruitment. First he took a couple of unofficial visits to Miami in 2011 and had them ahead. Then FSU offered at the end of last January and he verbally committed a week later, in early February 2012. That stood up for a few months before he decommitted in early May. All along, USF had been in the picture -- an offer in January, a visit at their spring game, a stop at the USF-FSU game in September. He took an official visit to USF a couple of weeks ago, but then took one to South Carolina a week later, where he got an offer that seemed like it would end the chase. But instead of choosing the Gamecocks, Senat has chosen USF this time.
Senat is a three-star recruit on Rivals, Scout, and 247. All three services have Senat rated at his position as a defensive tackle -- #35 on 247, #44 on Rivals, and #62 on Scout. 247 (#65) and Rivals (#46) also have Senat rated on their overall list of Florida prospects.
One last thought... can we make Taggart the athletic director? I mean at least we know how much he cares.
