Anthony Collins Will Not Play Tonight vs. Memphis, Still Eligible For A Medical Redshirt

USA TODAY Sports

USF junior point guard Anthony Collins will not play tonight in the team's conference opener vs. Memphis according to multiple sources. Collins is still dealing with the knee issue that has plagued him since before training camp started this season. What was described as a simple procedure to relieve an inflamed bursa sac still hasn't healed correctly, and the Bulls on-court leader has been struggling since the start of the season.

Collins is shooting a career low of 28.9% so far this season, averaging just 6.9 points per game in 31.4 minutes per contest. Defensively he's struggled to stay in front of opposing guards all season, and has lost some of the explosiveness that made him one of the most feared upperclassmen point guards in America.

Collins has played in eight games this season, starting seven, and would be eligible for a medical redshirt if he doesn't take the court again in 2013-14.
