The Spring of USF Redemption continues. Men's tennis, men's golf (playing for national championship in Bradenton this week), and baseball all have been fantastic.
A huge congratulations to Mark Kingston and his team for reversing this curse that had lasted 13 years. The Bulls face FAU at 1 p.m. in Gainesville. The winner plays the winner of UF-FAMU, and the loser playing the loser of UF-FAMU the next day.
FAU was 40-17 this season, and were getting noise about hosting a regional late in the process, but two losses to UAB in the C-USA Tournament doomed their hosting dreams.
FAMU finished 23-23 in the MEAC, but knocked off perennial MEAC winner Bethune-Cookman along the way. They would still seem to be the odds-on favorite to fall out first.
Florida is #3 in the RPI, and won the SEC Tournament last weekend. They will also serve as a Super Regional host to the winner of the Tallahassee Regional if they emerge from this weekend's four-team field.
Jimmy Herget will be on 10 days rest for the Bulls vs. FAU, and I think everyone would be shocked if he didn't get the ball.
Road trip!! You coming??
